Serkonsül Bar&Coffee Karaköy
Year: 2022
Area: 200 m²
Client: Fahri Konsolos & Soy Türkiye
Soy Mutfak Ürünleri and Fahri Konsolos Bar, while operating as two distinct brands under the same ownership, share common values rooted in craftsmanship, traditional production techniques, and a refined approach to design and taste.
Located in Karaköy—one of Istanbul’s historic districts that has undergone significant social and commercial transformation over the past decade—the project encompasses two adjacent retail units and a basement level, reinterpreted as a unified spatial experience.
The kitchen and technical areas are positioned in the basement, allowing the ground level to function as an active interface with the street. The corner unit is designed as a cocktail bar, where sliding and folding façade elements dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior, enabling the space to extend into the urban fabric.
While the retail component operates independently, it is conceived in continuity with the bar, ensuring a cohesive spatial language that reflects the shared identity of the two brands.
The architectural character draws inspiration from the refined modernist interiors of the 1930s–1950s, referencing their material palette, detailing, and spatial clarity. In this context, the project seeks to reinterpret the spatial language and sense of quality associated with early Republican-era architecture, translating it into a contemporary urban setting.
