Istanbul Airport TFS Office Building

Year : 2022
Area: 2.000 m2
Client: Istanbul Airport Turkish Fuel Services

An office building and its interior spaces were designed for TFS Akaryakıt A.Ş., the entity responsible for the operation and management of all fuel supply processes at Istanbul Airport.

Situated within the context of the airport—an almost non-place, largely devoid of immediate references—the building asserts its presence through a restrained yet deliberate architectural language. A solid, monolithic form paired with a neutral black envelope establishes a clear identity, allowing the structure to define itself within an otherwise ambiguous environment.

The relationship between users and their surroundings is mediated through transparent façades and generously lit interiors, reconnecting the workplace with the ground plane, the sky, and the continuous movement of aircraft.

At selected moments, the rigid mass is strategically incised and opened, allowing color to emerge as a spatial device. These interventions draw users into the main interior volumes and courtyards, softening the monolithic expression while reinforcing spatial continuity and engagement.
