Izmir Menemen Housing
Year: 2021
Area: 800 m2
Rooted in the modern residential tradition of İzmir—characterized by generous balconies and an open relationship with the outdoors—the project develops a contemporary architectural language informed by geometric forms and principles associated with the Bauhaus.
These formal references are complemented by carefully introduced color accents, establishing a dialogue between rational composition and a more expressive, human-scaled articulation. The result is a balanced architectural language that is both precise and lively.
The project is organized across three adjacent parcels, designed as a cohesive ensemble while responding to the specific needs of each plot. Shared amenities, including a common pool and social areas, create a collective framework, while individual building configurations maintain autonomy and diversity.
Through this approach, the development reinterprets İzmir’s architectural heritage and the rationalist ethos of the early Republican period, proposing a contemporary settlement where clarity, proportion, and collective living are brought into alignment.
